4 Easy Ways to Get Your Skin Glowing

image via When I was little, I used to mercilessly tease my big sister about her acne. I assumed that my day would come, that I would eventually contend with difficult skin, and she could tease me right back. Well, I never really had acne. And now I feel like a jerk. My skin has always been more dry than anything, but because it’s been a lower-maintenance aspect of my beauty routine (my HAIR being the highest), it’s only been recently that I’ve realized how much I was abusing it. The good news is, a few simple changes can drastically change the …

How I Use My Simplified Planner To Keep on Top of the Crazy

When I bought my first Simplified Planner from Emily Ley, I was full of ideas for how I would use it to have the most organized year of my life. So, I used it for three beautiful days, and then I didn’t open it up again for four months. Have you ever done this? Or abandoned your latest organizational system? Here’s my theory on why we leave our grand organization plans by the wayside… At the end of the day, organization itself takes time and effort. Writing in a planner consistently takes time. Writing down your appointments instead of stashing them in …

A Day in the Life of a Lifestyle Blogger

On Wednesday, a kind reader (and aspiring blogger) emailed me to ask what it was like being a lifestyle blogger. My knee-jerk response? It’s insane. It’s editing images, obsessing over the Instagram algorithm, taking too many pictures of myself, writing, writing, and more writing. Did you know that the blogging world has a HUGE learning curve? Even for a lifestyle blogger? So of all the things that blogging is, it’s really about learning. All the learning. It’s also the most fun I’ve ever had. If you’ve been around here for a bit, you know that I am NOT currently blogging full-time, though that is …

6 Inexpensive Ways to Glam Up Your Room

Recently my little niece was coming upstairs to my room. She doesn’t come upstairs often since it’s less toddler-proofed and the stairs are no joke. Not the best for a 4 year-old. Anyway as she’s walking up she squeezes my hand, looks up at me and says, “I can’t wait to see what colors your room is THIS time, Aunt Sarah!” So like I might have a redecorating problem. I love home decor and could happily redecorate three times a year if I had the funds. Keyword being: funds. (The fact that there is a Target within 1/4 mile of my house …

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly of Changing Careers

As far as careers go, I’ve had four of those in the four years since I graduated from college (LOLZ). I nannied in beautiful Boston first, and then moved back to Tulsa to intern for a teaching job which I eventually took up as my full-time gig for the next two years. Before that, I taught ballet and spent the bulk of my day in leg warmers. I don’t regret a thing. The thing was, I never wanted to be a person who was afraid to turn the page. During my senior year of college I sat and listened to my friend …

We’re on Summer Hiatus!

We’re taking a little summer hiatus on the blog (and by “we” I mean yours truly). Don’t worry though, it’s all good things over here! I have recently transitioned jobs, which I’ll write more about when we’re back to our regularly scheduled party, and since I want to give my blog only the best, I’m going to step away while I make a few adjustments. First of all, I need to adjust to my new job! While I’m all about change, I struggle a bit with major transitions. I need a lot of rest, and find that I get stressed far easier …

The 2017 Single Girl’s Guide to Summer Party Snacks

Sipping lemonade, lying in the sun, swirling your toes in a clear, cool pool…. Guys, it’s summer. A pretty big chunk of my pals are either not working (teachers!) or score 3-day weekends over the summer, which means lots of pool time, game nights, and time with my people. If you read this spring’s 5 Amazing Single Girl Recipes, you know that our 2017 Guide to Summer Party Snacks had to follow strict Single Girl …

An Open Letter to You, High School Grad

Dear Graduate, Throwing my red cap in the air in the spring of 2009 was one of the happiest moments of my life. The tassel got caught in my earring and I was across the arena (alphabetically and otherwise) from my friends, so I was feeling pretty salty about that, but man, I was so happy to throw that cap in the air. I didn’t even care about how much I was sweating beneath my red polyester gown anymore. High school was done. Now it’s 2017 and I’m 26. I survived college, and now the first few years of my grownup life. And …
